Authors: Dr. Rozana Dana Vieru*, Dr. Stana Paunita, Dr. Anca Dumitriu, Dr. Horia Traian Dumitriu.

Premises:

Biostimulation therapy by low energy laser (LLLT) associated with the classic treatment increases the percentage of success and shortens the healing time in gingivitis and marginal periodontities.

Objectives:

To evaluate the effectiveness of laser therapy LLLT in gingivitis and marginal periodontities

Material and Methods:

37 patients with gingivitis and marginal periodontities were asked to participate to the research. 13 patients were treated classically (control group and 24 (the experimental group) benefit of laser.

We followed several parameters: the time for hemostasis and formation of the cloth, the pain relief time, percentage of recurrences, and the use of other medication or not.

We compared the classical treatment with the laser therapy by following few parameters of the immediate effects

Results:

We found from our clinical observations that the immediate effects reduced the bleeding up to 80%, inflammation and pain relief up to 90% and for the long term effects, we found no post-treatment alteration The recurrence was a much smaller 20%. Use of chemical medication decreased. We got a more sure and safe compact bone mineralization.

Conclusions:

Laser Therapy from our clinical observations showed improvements to the classical treatments and helped our work reduced the discomfort and time of the treatment for the patient.
